The Casements - was
built in the early 1900's by Episcopal Minister and Mrs. Harwood
Huntington. The original three-story, 13-bedroom mansion was purchased by
John D. Rockefeller in 1918 when the Huntington's put it on the market
after becoming disenchanted with Florida. John D. Rockefeller had been spending his
winters at the Hotel Ormond, (back then, just across Granada Blvd) and considered Ormond the healthiest spot on
earth. The Casements became John D. Rockefellers winter retirement
home until his death in 1937, at age 97. The City of Ormond Beach
