Bob
Patterson is adept at a multiplicity of pursuits. He is a Fine Art
Photographer, an award winning singer/songwriter, and he can play
the devil out of a 12 string guitar. In this article I will
introduce you to Bob as one of Florida's own special storytellers.
Even his traditional tales are woven in such a way that they appear
to be part of the Sunshine State's landscape.
With a distinctive voice and skillful 12 string guitar technique, he
takes his audience on a trip through real Florida that is filled
with folklore and humor. Make no mistake about it, this is great
entertainment, but Bob has reason for telling his stories the way he
does. Since most people now living in Florida are from somewhere
else, Bob feels that their sense of roots belongs to where they came
from and that they don't have the same respect for the land that
they now live on. So he tells stories that tie people back to the
land, to the plants and the animals, to Florida's precious water,
and to it's original people. He does all this in the hopes that they
will walk away from his shows thinking about saving Florida forever.
"I want people to make the connection between art and nature. If
they do that, I've made my case."
Bob
says that he tries to make the storytelling experience special for
his audience. Well I've heard Bob tell his stories and I walked away
thinking about how I could participate in saving our beautiful
state. Don't miss an opportunity to see him in action. Listening to
Bob is listening to Florida as it used to be.
